The studio

We make games about finding things out.

Funbase LLC is an independent games studio. We make mysteries and puzzles with one promise: if you pay attention, you can work it out.

What we believe

  • 01

    Fair beats clever

A mystery is only fun if it can be solved. We would rather you work it out than be fooled.

  • 02

    Your time is precious

A case should fit into an evening, or a bus ride, and still leave you arguing about it the next morning.

  • 03

    Made to be shared

The best part of a whodunit is comparing notes. We make games for the people you play with, too.

How a case is made

Built to have one answer. Checked until it does.

Every Five Suspects case goes through the same five steps before anyone sees it.

  1. 1

    Draft

An AI writer drafts the case: the crime, five suspects, the ground rules and every clue, with a proof that only one suspect fits.

  2. 2

    Break

AI solvers get the case exactly as you will, with no answer key, and try to break it: a second suspect who fits, a shortcut, a clue that gives the game away. Any failure sends it back to be rewritten.

  3. 3

    Illustrate

An AI art director illustrates the case without knowing who did it, drawing all five suspects from one template, so no picture can tilt the case.

  4. 4

    Audit

Fresh solvers look at the finished art, the suspect cards first, to catch anything that singles one person out.

  5. 5

    Decide

Funbase reviews every result and decides when a case posts. Its answer follows the next day.

On AI

Made with AI tools. Said plainly.

The illustrations in Five Suspects are AI-generated, and AI agents draft and check each case. Every case is built to have exactly one answer you can prove from its clues.

AI lets a small studio make a new illustrated case often. The checks above are how we keep each one fair: the agents that test a case never see its answer, and the agent that draws the suspects never learns who did it.

We label AI-made work where platforms ask us to, and we'll always tell you how a game was made if you ask.

Say hello.

Players, press, creators and puzzle people: we'd love to hear from you.
